LA Fashion Week

Ahhhhh fashion week in LA – the week-long event held twice a year where fashion designers from across the globe showcase their latest collections to professionals involved in the industry including buyers, press, and stylists. I was excited to attend and have the firsthand sensory experience as a spectator gazing at some of these amazing designs up close. This October fashion week here in LA was first kicked off with a LA fashion week beauty event held at Luxelab salon in Santa Monica. It was a fun-filled event of hors d’oeuvres, drinks, photo booth shenanigans, gift bag goodies, cupcakes, and makeovers – yup my kind of day ūüėČ With my hair and makeup done, I just had to snag some shots so here are some close-ups of how my hair turned out. It was definitely a cool spin and idea to fan out my colored strands on top to make the color pop!

Then the actual fashion shows are next and your initial reaction is “What the F*%! am I going to wear??”¬†With my busy work schedule,¬†I decided to attend 2 of the days at the event in Union Station downtown. Union Station is the historic main railway station built in the 1930’s and although I could see how it would make for a cool venue with its art deco architecture, we were sweating in this October heat wave with no AC. Aside from melting in the fires of Gehenna, I was grateful to be there, feelin’ hashtag blessed, and smitten to reminisce that the last time I was at this historical building, I was taking my engagement pics with JD =) What an experience to take in all the sights and sounds of each collection’s fabrics and designs, lighting and screen graphics, and the rhythms of each collection’s soundtrack. The buzz in the room is infused with collected¬†excitement masked behind a line-up of poker faces and the energy is palpable. Here are some red carpet snaps and behind-the-scenes pics!

Waiting for Derek Zoolander with my eyes closed!

Caught chatting about that Hansel – so hot right now!

At the after party at Hotel Figueroa. I love all the Moroccan-inspired decor here.

Okay, but seriously here are a few of my fave collections and a peek of some upcoming trends to look forward to in Spring/Summer 2016!

And now on to what I wore: For this first outfit, I had been eyeballing this black low-cut jumpsuit from Zara and definitely needed to find something to go under it. I was looking for something lacey which reminded me of this lace bodysuit I had snagged¬†from H&M. Although it’s lingerie, I’ve been thinking with¬†bodysuits back¬†in style and given that this one is too darn cute not to be worn out, why not!! So¬†I’ve been scheming for a while to style an outfit with this lingerie bodysuit and the spotting of this jumpsuit was the¬†perfect opportunity. The silver shoes were also quite the hit.

Jumpsuit: Zara

Bodysuit: H&M

My second outfit was a last minute getup I had to throw together. After experiencing the sweltering heat that first day, the second outfit I initially planned would be way too hot to wear. Initially, I planned on wearing a short white leather dress with thigh high suede boots and a neck tie scarf. This is what I opted for instead and yes I couldn’t resist pairing the Zara shoes again. You’ll see me wearing them A LOT! You can’t really tell in the pics, but the sleeveless coat here is actually a pretty blush color and it actually just went on sale. Links below!
