The start of this retro Hawaiian look began when this tropical print shirt caught my eye at Forever21. It wasn’t until I came home that I realized I snagged it from the men’s section (Oh well!) – which got me thinkin, I didn’t need to pay much to get this look if I had raided JD’s closet for one of his shirts. So my advice if you’d like to whip this look together without spending much at all is to check out the closets of all the men in your life including your dad and/or brother. No luck? Without fail you could easily spot a classic tropical/Hawaiian print at just about any local thrift shop so check those out too! And from the way I like to style these shirts with the sleeves rolled/folded and a button or 2 undone at the bottom so I can tie/knot it at the midriff, you really could rock a men’s shirt in a smaller size!
If you just want to buy a shirt, I linked some below! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find this exact shirt on the F21 website, but maybe you might be able to spot it at a store. Consider any type of denim for the bottoms including jean shorts, skirts, and jeans. Accessories to accentuate the retro 70s feel include a reflective silver belt (linked below) and these glasses which were an unexpected find at the mall from a store called Fashion Q. They don’t seem to have a website so I also linked some similar eyeglass picks below too!
Have a great weekend guys and thanks for checking out this post!
